The following is a release from the Montana Department of Transportation:

DILLON, Mont. – The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) and its partner, L&J Construction Group LLC, anticipate improving North Interchange Road in Dillon beginning mid-April. The work on the half-mile segment will consist of removing and replacing approximately 2 inches of pavement, seal and cover (chip seal), bridge repairs, new guardrail, and new signage and pavement markings.

The project begins just west of the intersection of Interchange Road with Montana Avenue and extends half a mile west along Interchange Road, ending just before the Interstate 15 (I-15) northbound on-ramp. “MDT is excited to return to Dillon this year,” said Shane Watson, Engineering Project Manager for MDT. “We enjoyed working with the community in Dillon in 2023 when we improved Helena Avenue, Atlantic Avenue, and 11 miles of I-15.” “We performed the bridge work on the south interchange last year. This project is similar in nature and will have the same minor traffic delay. We apologize for the inconvenience,” said Kevin Helling, L&J’s Project Manager. “The partnerships between MDT, L&J, the City of Dillon, Beaverhead County, and the residents all contribute to a safe and successful project.”

National Work Zone Awareness Week is April 15-19, 2024 and this year’s theme is “Work Zones are temporary. Actions behind the wheel can last forever.” In 2021, 956 people were killed in fatal work zone crashes, according to the most recent data available from www.workzonesafety.org. MDT reminds you to use extra caution while traveling through work zones by minimizing distractions and following posted speed limits.
