The Butte Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a blood drive Wednesday, July 26th from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on the Bloodmobile in the parking lot. United Blood Services needs YOUR help to rebuild both local and national blood supplies as we face a critical blood shortage. Blood supplies across the country remain at dangerously low levels following a severe decline in blood donations leading up to and following the July 4th holiday. UBS strives to keep a 5-day supply of every blood type on the shelf at all times to be able to meet the needs of patients across the region. Donations from O-negative donors, the universal blood type, are especially important this time of year due to increased accidents and trauma cases. The current O-negative blood supply sits at approximately two-days on hand, which is more than half of the ideal quantity needed to support local patients. We are asking for your help in making sure your blood drive is fully booked, and, if possible, has alternates who are willing to donate should someone be deferred when presenting to donate. United Blood Services is the only blood provider to nearly 30 hospitals across Montana and Northern Wyoming. About 30 percent of UBS’s blood supply goes to cancer patients across the region and one in seven people entering the hospital will need blood. Those relying on blood in the region receive that lifesaving blood from UBS. Thank you for your commitment to our lifesaving mission in your community. Contact United Blood Services at 1-800-365-4450 to make your lifesaving appointment today! We need 15 more Heroes to partner with us to save lives in Butte and the surrounding area!
