Montana is one of the best places to get married.

Stunning Settings for Unforgettable Weddings

Not only is Montana beautiful and picturesque, but there are so many incredible settings to choose from, mountains, lakes, rivers, streams and some absolutely spectacular wedding venues.

But there's another reason Montana might be an attractive place to get married: we're relatively affordable compared with many other states.

According to wedding cost data cited by The Knot, Montana ranks toward the lower end of the country when it comes to the average cost of a wedding.

Montanans spend roughly $20,000 to $21,000 on the average wedding, depending on the source and methodology.

That might still sound like a lot of money, because, let's face it, $20,000 is a lot of money, but compared with some other states, Montana is actually pretty frugal.

Of course, the actual cost of a Montana wedding can vary quite a bit depending on the venue, guest list, season, catering, photography and all the other choices that go into planning a wedding.

Comparing Wedding Costs: Montana vs. Other States

The states with some of the highest average wedding costs include New Jersey, Rhode Island, New York, Vermont and Massachusetts.

On the other end of the spectrum, Wyoming, Idaho, Utah, Alaska and Arkansas rank among the states with the lowest average wedding costs.

Montana is toward the more affordable end of the list, coming in around $21,000 and roughly tied with Iowa, Mississippi and Nevada, according to the figures we're looking at.

Beautiful Venues Without Breaking the Bank

So maybe Montana has another thing going for it when it comes to weddings: you can get married somewhere absolutely beautiful without spending quite as much as couples in some other states.

If you're thinking about getting married in Montana, there's another event you should know about.

The Missoula Wedding Fair is coming up on January 10, 2027.

It's one of the longest-running wedding fairs in Montana, and I know that because I've probably attended it for 39 years now.

Making Your Wedding Planning Easier

It's a great event because you can find just about everything you need for your wedding all under one roof.

Venues, photographers, caterers, music, wedding attire, rentals and plenty of other wedding-related services will all be represented.

Instead of running all over town trying to find everything you need, you can see a whole bunch of vendors in one place. You may even be able to save some money by comparing your options.

The Perfect Blend: Beauty, Affordability, and Convenience

So there you go, Montana.

We're beautiful, we're picturesque, and apparently we're pretty frugal when it comes to weddings, too.
