June in Montana has always been tricky when it comes to weather. We're expecting up to 6" of fresh snow by Wednesday morning on the Beartooth Pass.

This new snow comes after most of southwest Montana has record temps this past weekend. THAT is June in Montana! Strong winds will perhaps require more snow clearing on the Beartooth Highway. You might experience delays if traveling on the pass.

  • WHAT...Snow expected for the Beartooth Highway.
  • Total snow accumulations up to 6 inches at the highest elevations of the pass.
  • Winds gusting as high as 30 mph.
  • WHERE...Absaroka/Beartooth Mountains.
  • WHEN...From 9 AM Monday morning to 6 AM Wednesday.
  • IMPACTS...Plan on slick and snow covered road conditions, and periods of poor visibility.
  • ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Greatest snow accumulations will occur tonight through Tuesday morning.
  • PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Slow down and use caution while traveling.
  • Be prepared for difficult winter like travel conditions.
  • For the latest road conditions, call 5 1 1.

Keep in mind that this advisory is focused on the highest elevations of the Beartooth Highway. Surrounding areas in lower elevations are not in danger of getting several inches of snow.
