Several counties in western Montana and northern Idaho will be dealing with very hot temperatures on Saturday. Enough so, that a Heat Advisory has been issued.

Temperatures in the 80s are widely expected, with a few areas forecasted to see 90 degrees or more.

"A Heat Advisory, issued by the National Weather Service, indicates that hot temperatures are expected, posing a risk to those who are not accustomed to or are more vulnerable to heat-related illnesses.

The advisory generally warns that prolonged exposure to the heat, especially during strenuous activity, could lead to heat exhaustion or even heat stroke."

  • A HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM NOON TO 9 PM MDT SATURDAY
  • WHAT...Moderate risk of heat effects expected.
  • WHERE...In Idaho, Eastern Lemhi County.
  • In Montana, Flathead/Mission Valleys, Kootenai/Cabinet Region, Lower Clark Fork Region, and Missoula/Bitterroot Valleys.
  • WHEN...From noon to 9 PM Saturday.
  • IMPACTS...This level of heat affects most individuals sensitive to heat, especially those without effective cooling and/or adequate hydration.
  • Impacts possible in some health systems and in heat-sensitive industries.
  • PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

The weather map is highlighting the entire length of the western Montana border with Idaho for this Heat Advisory. As of now, it is only in effect for Saturday.
