Remarkable World Records That Were Set In Montana
A surprising number of World Records have been set in Montana. Some of them are impressive achievements, while other records set in Big Sky Country are pretty weird. If you're looking for "The World's Largest ______", perhaps it makes sense to look in Montana.
There are many steps to setting an actual World Record. First, you have to do your research. Is there an existing record? What are the details about how the record is measured?
Next, you can attempt to beat and existing record or you can suggest a new record. Considering how silly some certified World Records are, it seems that you can pursue a record with just about anything.
Applying for a new World Record is important. No matter what the record is, the 'right' people need to be in the loop about your attempt to set a new one. Guinness will actually send you guidelines to follow.
Obviously there needs to be evidence of your new World Record. Take pictures, video, and anything else that's required by Guinness. (They will be very clear when they send you the guidelines to follow.)
According to Guinness: "The application is free for existing records, but there's a $5 non-refundable fee for new records. Guinness receives many applications, so they limit applicants to three applications within 24 hours."
Keep in mind that the minimum age to attempt a Guinness World Record without parental consent is 18. However, kids between the ages of 16 and 18 can apply as long as they do have parental consent.
