Get Involved; The Next Ducks Unlimited Banquet is in Anaconda
Since its humble, yet trail blazing beginnings in 1937, people throughout North America have been instrumental in recognizing the importance of Ducks Unlimited. In Montana alone, several events are held annually to raise awareness of waterfowl habitat. Most recently, Helena hosted their Ducks Unlimited Banquet, and now organizers in Anaconda are set to do the same on April 1st at the Anaconda Elks Lodge (223 Main) beginning at 5 p.m.

Cross Your Fingers; World Museum of Mining Hopes to Open Soon
The incredible staff at the World Museum of Mining have always been a determined crew! Unfortunately, this season they're level of determination has been tested by the fact that they may not be able to open their doors to the public in a few days as planned. The factor getting in the way? The weather! It didn't matter that the first day of Spring was March 20th. No, old man winter has his claws dug in deep and it's hard to tell when he'll let go. But, I'll say it again...the World Museum of Mining is determined. Yes, in true form, organizers are working hard to get the museum as ready as possible for the proposed April 1st opening date by conducting training, scheduling and routine cleaning. As we know all too well, the cold temperatures have made snow removal very difficult in many areas around town, and this includes the grounds at the World Museum of Mining. After all, the safety of visitors is their first priority. (continued...)

Reasons this Montanan hasn't Moved Closer to Family in Hawaii

Reasons this Montanan hasn't Moved Closer to Family in Hawaii
So, as much as I love my son, the other reason it would be hard for me to move to Hawaii involves the fear of insects larger than my hand. I'm talking about cockroaches, mainly; plus, I also had a couple of freaky run-ins with tree frogs and roosters in paradise the last time I was in Hawaii. Remember, you're in "their habitat" and not the other way around. Yes, I'm talking about a more remote area of Hawaii minus fancy resorts and cabanas... but those are cool, too. Reasons number 3, 4, 5, and 6 for not being completely sold on moving to Hawaii? ...lack of acclamation to hot weather, increased volcano activity, the extreme cost of living, and homesickness for the mountains back home. However, If a family member were to win the lottery right now, I would gladly overcome my fear of bugs and everything else in between to make Hawaii my home for at least half of the year. Still, for now, an excursion to and from the tropics works fine for this Montana girl!

Ladies & Gents, Children of All Ages; the Circus is Butte Bound
There's one thing most of us had growing up; the feeling of excitement when the circus was coming to town! Whether from a performance you remember 30 years ago or just yesterday, there's something about the circus that continues to amaze people of all ages. The circus is a break from the ordinary; the colorful displays, the animated clowns, the engaging trapeze acts and the daring lion and elephant acts are exhilarating experiences. Coming up, April12th, you'll have a chance to be amazed all over again as the Jordan World Circus makes its way to the Butte Civic Center for two magnificent shows; one at 4 p.m. and an evening performance at 7 p.m.!
Oh, I Love When It Snows in the Spring; Said No One Ever

Oh, I Love When It Snows in the Spring; Said No One Ever
As the host of "Kickin' With Carin, Middays on KMBR FM," I have literally said the word "SNOW" during an on-air weather forecast more this year than any other year of my life as a broadcaster! "Snow flurries, the white stuff, precipitation, the other four letter word"! You name it, and I've done it; used the term "snow" on the radio in the most "as a matter of fact" way so that I don't stress out the listener or myself for that matter. I mean, you still have to be firm about how the topic of hazardous weather is revealed so that people know what to expect in taking precautions; however, some subtleties have to remain. But hey, I'm just the messenger. Imagine how meteorologists across Montana and the nation feel about the dynamics of this year's weather pattern, then having to relay it to hundreds of thousands of viewers and listeners as if they're the ones that caused such drastic conditions in the first place. On either side of the mic, it's safe to say that we are "over" the current state of the weather in Montana. Besides, on paper, it's officially SPRING!
