Last week the Butte Central softball team nearly broke into the win column in a big way, nearly beating the championship-quality Dillon Beavers and the baseball team came within a run of their first two-game winning streak in program history. Spring activities are off and running for the Butte High Bulldogs and Butte Central Maroons and although a spring storm system may disrupt initial plans, for now it is all systems go on the diamond, the court and the track this week. The Butte Central Maroons will return to the baseball diamond for their third season and will open the 2025 campaign Thursday at Three Legends Stadium against the East Helena Vigilantes. The varsity game is set for 3pm with the JV game to follow at approximately 5pm.
It is postseason time for the Butte Central High Schools' boys and girls basketball teams with both Maroons teams qualifying for and competing in the Western A Divisional Tournament in Whitefish. The tournament runs Thursday through Saturday with the top 4 boys and girls teams advancing to the State A Tournament next weekend in Billings.

Butte Central Catholic High School will hold a signing ceremony for basketball standout Dougie Peoples tomorrow at 2pm in the high school rotunda as the outgoing senior officially signs with the basketball program at the College of Idaho. Both Peoples and the Yotes have experienced extraordinary success as of late with the former being awarded the Gatorade Montana Player of the Year award and the latter winning the 2022-23 NAIA National Championship. The College of Idaho coaching staff will be on hand and the public is welcome to attend as well.
