Is there anything more wholesome or American than an elementary school bazaar? Especially in the fall, you can practically smell the home-baked pumpkin pie and cookies. But bazaars are so much more. Handmade crafts and pottery. Jewelry and cupcakes. And these days, even face painting and music. Here in the Mining City, one particular bazaar has not only become an autumn tradition, but it has grown from the walls of the elementary school gymnasium to the biggest arena in Silver Bow County. Of course, I am talking about the annual Hillcrest Bazaar Arts and Crafts Show, and it is coming to the Butte Civic Center on October 19th.

Now in its 112th seating, the annual Butte Chamber of Commerce Dinner and Awards is an evening that showcases all that is right in the world of Butte business. And as we see more and more, Butte businesses are growing in size and in number. This year, again, several distinguished awards will be presented to various leaders in our business community. Let's look at the awards they'll be presenting and how you can make your nomination for these awards known.

A celebration of Butte businesses, their employees and our community is coming up September 19th at the Butte Civic Center as the Butte Chamber of Commerce hosts its 112th Annual Dinner and Awards Ceremony. The Chamber will be celebrating "20 under 40" as they help to identify and celebrate 20 local business leaders under 40 years of age who are excelling in their respective careers and fields and who have given back to the community and donated time philanthropically.

The Butte-Silver Bow County Fair kicks off this Thursday at the Butte Civic Center with events, shows and activities for all ages. As we get closer to the start we will be taking a closer look at different things you will find this year at the fair and will be chatting with Fair Board Chair Josh O'Neill early in the week. Well, the big weekend is finally here. The Montana Folk Festival has arrived, and we can expect three days of incredible music from all over the globe, unique cuisine, one-of-a-kind crafts and thousands of people converging on the Mining City. Klistoff, as you probably remember, is the man behind the bare-knuckle boxing events that have kicked off the last 2 summers at their "Brawls and Kickstart Days" at the Butte Depot, Klistoff's indoor productions might even be more impressive. The first Fight Kingdom event was impressive and exciting, the crowd was boisterous, and the lighting and sound practically made you feel as if you were on the Las Vegas Strip. Saturday's is expected to be even better.

The Pipe and Drum Band of the Edmonton Police Service is coming back to Butte for St. Patrick's Day celebrations. Since the 1980s their family-friendly performances have become synonymous with St. Patrick's Day in Butte and their whirlwind three-day Mining City tour schedule is up for this weekend's events.

For the 18th time in his 20 seasons at the helm, Brodie Kelly is leading his Butte Central Maroons boys basketball team into the Montana Class A State Tournament and this year's edition will get underway at 9am as they open play against the Dawson Country Red Devils in the Butte Civic Center.
