This weekend is one that many Southwest Montana families have had circled on their calendars since the early days of winter. No, it's not opening day of baseball season. It's not Memorial Day or Mother's Day. Its opening weekend at the Silver Bow Drive-In, one of the few operating drive-in theaters left in existence and a treasure to those who enjoy it.
It looks like the Silver Bow Drive-In could potentially have a new neighbor. A Facebook post from earlier today says that a development company is looking at putting a "convenience store with fuel sales" on 17 acres of land next to the drive-in on the interstate exit. Responses on the post have been mixed.
People look forward to spring and summer for a myriad of reasons. Here in the Butte area, I know a lot of people can’t wait for days to get longer (and warmer) so they can start making the trip out to the Silver Bow Drive-in.
