As graduation draws closer and closer, spring activities in the Mining City are moving towards the postseason as we look towards divisional meets and state tournaments. Here is a look at what's on the slate for the Bulldogs and Maroons this week.

The Butte Central Maroons will be busy on the home diamonds this week as the baseball team will host an early pair and the softball team will host one of the state's biggest softball tournaments later in the week. The Tennis and Track & Field teams will also be in action.

Montana Tech’s Abby Clark and Dom Maricelli are the Frontier Conference/Erck Hotels Track & Field Athletes of the Week. The Montana Tech Orediggers competed in Billings last week for the Frontier Conference Championships. Both men’s and women’s Oredigger track & field teams won the Frontier Conference Championship meet.

The warm weather is a welcome sight, particularly to those in charge of scheduling Butte High and Butte Central activities. After delays, postponements and cancellations we are keeping our fingers crossed for the warm stretch to continue as the Bulldogs and Maroons look to get things rolling.

We are seeing how difficult it is to host any form of Spring sporting event in Butte when Spring refuses to show up for more than a couple of hours at a time. But it has to come eventually, right? Butte Central certainly hopes so as they have home contests scheduled for baseball and softball while the track and field teams have meets scheduled in the Mining City as well as Missoula.

Even though most of Montana is braving what is hoped to be the last storm of the winter, Track and Field Season is off and running, at least on the collegiate level. Dornblaser Field in Missoula was the site of the Al Manuel Invitational and the Montana Tech Orediggers were represented quite nicely.
