Butte’s Annual “Stuff The Bus” Is Fast Approaching
Let US Run presents the annual “Stuff the Bus” program to help provide school kids with backpacks and supplies for the return to school. Last year the program handed out 612 backpacks to kids of all ages, and there will be a significant need again this year.
I think every parent knows, or remembers, that sometimes the money needed to outfit kids with back-to-school necessities doesn’t always fall into the budget. This program is here to help to make sure that every kid has all the school supplies required for their upcoming school year. From kindergarten to high school, each classroom has different supply requirements, and we can hopefully make a difference for a lot of families.
Jim Miller with Let Us Run has been collecting donations all year for the event, and he will need a whole lot more. This is where Butte comes in. The Stuff the Bus event will be held on Friday, July 28th at the Town Pump on the corner of Harrison and Elizabeth Warren. The bus will be parked there all day, from 8 am – 5 pm. If you are able to donate and help make sure that kids have the supplies they need in the coming school year, this is the time to do it. You can either purchase supplies and drop them off, helping ‘fill the bus’, or monetary donations are greatly appreciated.
There will also be a silent auction during the event. Many individuals, families, and businesses have donated items to help raise money for the cause. These will be displayed on the day of the event. We invite you to stop and look at the items and place a bid on any that interest you! All the monies raised will go directly toward supplies for kids. Silent auction items include things like coolers, gift baskets, a room at Fairmont Hot Springs resort, golf at The Old Works, the Butte Country Cub, and a whole lot more. You will be shocked at the great stuff that will be available in the silent auction.
So, mark July 28th on your calendar and come see us for the 5th Annual Stuff the Bus event at the Town Pump on the corner of Harrison Avenue and Elizabeth Warren. Let’s see if we can lighten the load for some families here in the Mining City.
