Helping Hands Clothing Drive now accepting donations
It's been many years since the inception of the annual Butte Cares/Harrington Pepsi Helping Hands Clothing Drive and many years that I have seen the people of Southwest Montana truly show up when there are people who are in need. Unfortunately, Southwest Montana has many individuals and families who truly are in need. Some are facing the upcoming months without much at all to keep them warm.
This week we've seen the weather turn with official temperatures only a few miles up the road at Elk Park hitting zero. In October. This has to be a sign of a particularly harsh winter ahead of us. Brutal or not, winter in Southwest Montana is no time to be without a warm coat and hat. Mittens and gloves are essential particularly if you work outside. Or have recess. Blankets and warm bedding are always a must and, as always, it is essential that infants and young children are bundled up.
We are looking for all of the above items and more, should you come across winter gear that you no longer use that could be of use to a struggling family. Gather your items and make your donations today. Take a couple of hours and go through those boxes and bins in your attic or garage, gather your items and drop them off today. Collection boxes are out right now in Butte at 3 Bears Alaska, Walmart, Steele's Warehouse, the Chamber of Commerce office, Ace Hardware and in Anaconda at Dee Motor Company. This year's clothing drive is made possible in part by Ziply Fiber.
