Montana Tech commencement this Saturday.
Fall commencement for Montana Technological University will take place this Saturday at 11:00 am in the HPER. The university expects that 186 degrees and certificates to be awarded to 181 students.
The commencement speaker will be Courtney McKee, co-owner, co-founder, and CEO of Headframe Spirits Manufacturing. Headframe Spirits makes its own brand of spirits, they run a tasting room, to welcome the public and community to share what they do and connect with one another. Headframe Manufacturing also builds stills, which are sold and shipped all over the world. Headframe also does contract distilling work, which enabled them to open the largest single malt distillery west of the Mississippi, using 18,000 pounds of Montana grain daily.
Headframe Spirits is a lot more than hooch, they are a certified B-Corporation. That means they are here to create more good than just a return to their shareholders. With everyone’s help, Headframe has donated over $350,000 to local organizations and charities, they also produced and delivered 6600 gallons of hand sanitizer during the height of the pandemic. They have had an economic impact of over $10 million dollars to the community of Butte.
This year’s student speaker is Robert Hogan from Monroe, MO. Robert has 20 years of operations experience in various mining sectors, including surface and underground mines throughout the U.S. He graduated from Southern Illinois University Carbondale in 2003. He began work on his master’s degree at Montana Tech in August 2021.
The Order of the Engineering Ring Ceremony will take place Friday, December 9th at 5:00 pm in the Library Auditorium.
The Nursing Pinning Ceremony will be held Saturday at 9:00 am in the Library Auditorium.
