The Diggs started their tour through New Mexico on Saturday against the Eagles of Northern New Mexico College. We have talked often about the Oredigger bench, how deep they can go, and how talented they are. Saturday’s game was a great example of that, as Montana Tech’s bench accounted for 49 of their 99 total points.  Tech led by as much as 27 against the Eagles.

Tonight, the Diggs will see a solid opponent in the Mustangs of the University of the Southwest. The Mustangs are a member of the Red River Athletic Conference, they are 4-2 in conference play so far, and 8-3 overall. The University of the Southwest is a tough opponent and are awfully good at home (6-1).

The Mustangs are led by Junior guard Jahvonta Jones who averages 17 a game, on 54% shooting, Malik Malone is next at 13 a game, Tre Thomas at 12, and Tyler Watkins at 11 a game.

For the Orediggers, Caleb Bellach is coming off a fantastic game Saturday, scoring 19 points in 27 minutes. Caleb remains the leading scorer on the year for Montana Tech averaging 15 a game. Also in double figures are Michael Ure at 14 points and 7 rebounds, and Asa Williams at 13 points a game.
