You have probably seen the Black Dog Creamery trailer at events around the Mining City over the summer and until now that was the only place that you would be able to enjoy their wonderful treats.  But thanks to an incredible transformation of what a few years ago was a warehouse into a sprawling market-style plaza in the heart of Uptown, you can practically enjoy them any time you want.  Braydon and Garrity Heier operate the establishment and they are excited to show off their new location in an incredible building, the Cleveland Market in Uptown Butte.

Garrity tells us that the journey to the new, permanent location has been challenging but a good one.  “It’s been really fun.  There’s been a lot of support from the community.  We were invited to set up shop in our little spot back there and we jumped at the opportunity.”

Several things make Black Dog Creamery stand out.  “We make all of our ice cream from scratch,” she told us.  “It starts from whole milk, heavy cream, sugar and vanilla.  From there, well, we like chunky ice cream so we like to put as much in as we can.” Some of the incredible concoctions you will find include their hot honey cornbread ice cream, their cookie dough ice cream and other tantalizing flavors, all that they come up with themselves. All of the ingredients they add, like fudge and cookies, being made from scratch as well.  What really sets Black Dog Creamery apart, though, is the names of their flavors.  They all have rock-and-roll associations.  “All of our flavors are Classic Rock-themed,” Garrity explained.  “Cookie dough is “Dough in the Wind”.  Rocky Road is “It’s Still Rocky Road To Me.”  Hot Honey Cornbread is “Wanted Bread or Alive.”  Even the name of the business screams Classic Rock.
