Do you remember the days of listening to an album front to back, both sides, over and over until you had everything, including the length of time between songs, committed to memory?  That's one of the things I really think young people these days are missing with the availability and immediate gratification of Spotify and digital playlists.  Even waiting for the album's release date was an example of sweet sorrow can't fully recognize.  Especially when it's from an album as legendary as the Beatles.

The Beatles were pioneers of concept albums and themes, some themes even reaching between albums.  Many will argue that "Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" is the group's pinnacle of creativity and quality but many will also argue that their best body of work is their last album, "Abbey Road".

From the opening bass and drum run of "Come Together" to the chilling harmonies on the last note of "The End", Abbey Road is an incredible album to listen to in one sitting.  Unfortunately, by the time the album was released the band had more or less broken up and had stopped touring years prior, so catching the band performing it live was out of the realm of possibility.

Years later, the Black Jacket Symphony may have the next best thing.  The BJS is a group of hand-picked musicians whose lineup changes depending on the album they are performing.  Over the course of 10 years, the Black Jacket Symphony has  covered over 40 albums note for note, sound for sound.  You may have seen them cover Pink Floyd's "The Wall" a few months back.  This time, it is Abbey Road, February 27th at the Helena Civic Center. In addition to this iconic album, the group will also perform a set of the Beatles' greatest hits with sonic precision.
