Butte-Silver Bow Offers Free Christmas Tree Collection Through December 31
Now that the presents have been unwrapped and we look to take down the decorations in our dwellings and on our Christmas trees, what do we do with the tree itself?
Butte-Silver Bow is offering residents a Christmas tree collection program through January 31st that is free and a great way to get rid of your natural holiday tree now that the holiday has passed.
If you have a live Christmas tree, you may dispose of it at any of the following three locations:
- The corner of Platinum Street and Excelsior Avenue
- The corner of Sampson Street and Utah Avenue outside of Stodden Park
- The High Altitude Skating Center parking lot
This service is open to the public through the end of January at no cost. To ensure all collection sites remain safe and usable, participants are required to remove all decorations from their trees before disposal and this includes all tinsel, lights, ornaments, garland and any other attached items as well as tree stands.
Remember, artificial trees are not accepted as part of the program. Only natural Christmas trees may be dropped off at the designated locations.
Residents are encouraged to utilize one of the listed drop off locations instead of placing their trees in streets, alleys or other public spaces where they could obstruct vehicles, interfere with snow removal or create safety hazards. Please use only the approved drop off sites and stay in compliance with the program's guidelines ensuring that the locations remain accessible and orderly for all residents.
If you would like additional information or have any questions about the Christmas tree disposal program, please contact the Butte-Silver Bow Parks and Recreation Department.
