Tickets are now on sale for one of Butte's most anticipated summer traditions as the Butte Sports Hall of Fame prepares to welcome its 20th class of inductees this July.

This year's Hall of Fame festivities begin Friday, July 24, with the annual Green Jacket Ceremony at 7pm at the Civic Center.  A free social hour will precede the event at 6pm, giving community members an opportunity to gather and celebrate the accomplishments of this year's class.  The celebration will continue on Saturday, July 25, with a social hour at 6pm followed by the induction banquet at 7pm.

Each inductee attending the banquet will receive a personalized commemorative plaque. Plaques may also be purchased for those unable to attend.

Here is a look at this year's class.  The individual inductees are:

  • Brian Bolton
  • Bernie Brophy
  • Shirley Chesterfield-Stanton
  • Susie Hogart-Harrington
  • John Kovacich
  • Scott Paffhausen
  • Kevin Parvinen
  • Jane Pascoe
  • Don Peoples, Jr.
  • Greg Salo
  • Butch Starin
  • Bill "Chunky" Thatcher

Here are the teams that will be inducted.  All teams captured State Championships:

  • 1972 Mile High All-Star baseball team
  • 1976 Northwest All-Star softball team
  • 1995 Butte High wrestling team
  • 2000 Butte Central softball team
  • 2009 Butte High girls track & field team

Additional weekend events will include the Hall of Fame golf scramble at Highland View Golf Course and the annual Green Jacket Breakfast at Perkins Family Restaurant making for a full weekend dedicated to honoring Butte's historic athletes and teams as well as Butte's rich sports history and tradition.

Fans, family members and supporters can purchase banquet tickets directly at the Civic Center box office after June 15th or immediately at the Civic Center's website.  HOF Executive Director Bill Foley reminds patrons that ticket prices will increase by $5 beginning July 14th.
