Art lovers in Butte will have a new exhibition to explore this summer as The Covellite presents July's Featured Artist: Gladys Calkin in the Covellite Lounge.

The photography exhibition will be displayed from July 1st through August 3rd, 2026 with free admission for all visitors.

The show highlights Calkin's unique ability to capture the interplay of light, landscape, texture and place through her photography.  According to Covellite organizers, the collection encourages viewers to slow down and take a fresh look at subjects that might otherwise go unnoticed.

"Photography has a unique ability to preserve a moment in time," the venue said in announcing the exhibit.  "This collection reflects an appreciation for both the natural world and the stories found within it."

The exhibition includes a range of images, from intimate details to sweeping landscapes, each showcasing Calkin's eye for composition, atmosphere and discovery.  The result is a body of work that invites visitors to pause, observe and connect with the environments and moments captured through her lens.

To celebrate the opening of the exhibit, the Covellite will host an artist reception on Thursday, July 2nd from 5pm to 7pm in the Covellite Lounge.  Guests will have the opportunity to view the photographs, meet Calking and enjoy and evening centered on local and regional art.  The reception is free and open to the public.

The Covellite's monthly featured artist series has become a regular showcase for visual artists in the Butte community, offering residents and visitors a chance to experience new work in an accesisble and welcoming setting.

Those interested in seeing Calking's photography can visit the Covellite Lounge throughout July and into early August while the exhibition remains on display.
