Harrrington Bottling Company of Butte has announced a generous new statewide initiative that will be unveiled this Tuesday here in the Mining City.  Full details are given in the following press release from Harrington Bottling Company.

BUTTE, Mont. — Harrington Bottling Company is launching Montana’s Treasures, an ongoing statewide initiative created to find, celebrate and share the hidden treasures and stories of the people and organizations making a difference across Montana. Special Olympics Montana will be the first organization honored as a Montana’s Treasure.

Why? Because treasures are meant to be shared.

The first Montana’s Treasures presentation will take place at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29, during Special Olympics Montana’s State Basketball Kickoff Event at the Butte Depot in Butte.

A Montana’s Treasure is a person, organization or group that shows up for others, brings people together, gives their time, shares their talents and makes a positive difference in the community around them. Some treasures are well known, while others quietly make a difference every day. What they share is a willingness to show up for others, bring people together and make their communities a little better.

As a family-owned, Montana-based company, Harrington Bottling Company values being locally rooted and community connected.  Montana’s Treasures is an ongoing effort to shine a light on the people, organizations and groups across Montana who live those values every day. By sharing their stories, Harrington hopes to bring some of Montana’s hidden treasures to the surface and encourage all of us to notice the people making a difference around us.

“Montana is full of people and organizations that make a difference every day, often without looking for recognition,” said Joe McClafferty, CEO of Harrington Bottling Company. “We wanted Montana’s Treasures to be a way to celebrate those people, share their stories and remind all of us to look for the good happening in our communities. Special Olympics Montana is a wonderful example of what it means to show up, bring people together and make a positive difference. We’re honored to recognize them as our very first Montana’s Treasure and excited to see where this journey takes us.”

Special Olympics Montana: The First Treasure

Special Olympics Montana embodies what Harrington Bottling Company hopes to celebrate through Montana’s Treasures: people coming together, showing up for one another and creating opportunities for others to thrive.

The athlete-centered, family-based and volunteer-driven organization provides year-round sports training and athletic competition for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Through sports, Special Olympics Montana creates opportunities for athletes to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and build friendships with their families, fellow athletes and communities.

Today, Special Olympics Montana serves more than 5,000 athletes through 171 programs in 132 Montana communities. More than 6,800 volunteers help organize and host local, area and state-level competitions.

The organization works to create a more inclusive world where people with intellectual disabilities can live active, healthy and fulfilling lives.

“We are honored to receive this recognition and grateful for your support of Special Olympics Montana. Together, we are creating opportunities for athletes to shine and building a more inclusive Montana. Thank you!” said Rhonda McCarty, Chief Executive Officer of Special Olympics Montana.

The presentation will celebrate Special Olympics Montana and the athletes, families, coaches, volunteers and communities who make its work possible.

Special Olympics Montana is just the beginning. As Montana’s Treasures continues, Harrington Bottling Company will shine a light on more of the people, organizations and groups across Montana who make their communities a little better. Stay tuned as we continue to discover and celebrate Montana’s Treasures.

Harrington Bottling Company will continue to feature Montana’s Treasures as the initiative grows. Each Treasure will also have the opportunity to nominate another person or organization they believe deserves to be celebrated, creating a pay-it-forward tradition that continues from one Treasure to the next. This growing collection of Montana’s Treasures will build toward an annual Treasure of the Year recognition that will celebrate one special Treasure in an even bigger way, including a generous donation to support their organization or a cause of their choice.

There are so many Montana’s Treasures still to discover, and Harrington Bottling Company is excited to keep looking.
