Igor and the Red Elvises at Covellite Festival Afterparty on Saturday Night
Now I realize that the Montana Folk Festival will have world-class musicians, bands and dancers from all over the world performing over three days in Uptown Butte but Saturday night's afterparty at The Covellite might be the one many are looking forward to the most. Igor and the Red Elvises will take the stage at the Covellite at 10:30pm and you can count on this band keeping things crazy until the early morning.
Who are Igor and the Red Elvises? Well, for starters, the band was formed in 1995 after frontman Igor Yuzov had a dream in which Elvis Presley told him to start playing rock and roll. You don't take that kind of premonition lightly and for over 3 decades, Igor and the Red Elvises have become very well-known with a huge fanbase thanks to their "Siberian Surf Rock" style which also incorporates rockablilly, international music and very offbeat humor. You're not going to find another band quite like this one.
Does this band have a cult following? Absolutely. Through extensive touring over three decades, several album releases and even a few film appearances such as in Six-String Samauri, Igor and the Red Elvises' live shows are legendary for turning audiences into dance parties. The band seamlessly combiines high-energy musicianship with a playful spirit that has made them a favorite at festivals, clubs, and theaters all over the country.
Showtime is 10:30pm but you are advised to get there early if you want up front. Suggested donation is $10 per person and advance tickets for the show are available here.
