Montana Football Hall of Fame class of 2023 includes Butte’s Colt Anderson
The Montana Football Hall of Fame has announced their class of 2023, and that list includes Butte’s own Colt Anderson.
The Montana Football Hall of Fame started in 2016 and was created to honor the play and contributions of all players, coaches, and volunteers across the Big Sky Country. This will be the seventh year of the induction ceremony, and the full list of players entering the hall in 2023 are:
Mike Person – Glendive, Montana State, NFL.- Dawson County MVP at O-Line his senior year, played college in Bozeman at Montana State. Mike was drafted in the 7th round of the 2011 draft, by the San Francisco 49ers.
Over his 9 year career, he started 48 NFL games, and played in 73 total, for 6 different NFL franchises.
Dallas Neil – Great Falls, Montana, NFL – Dallas was the starting QB for Great Falls High, went on to play at the University of Montana as a Tight End and punter. In the 2000 NFL Draft, Neil was signed by the Falcons, and was on the roster through 2003. In 2003 he was signed by the New York Jets and waived in 2004.
Lynn Ahrens- Wolf Point, Eastern Montana College, NFL- Born in 1952, Lynn played ball in Wolf Point, Montana. From 1969-1972 Lynn played football for Eastern Montana College (MSU-B). In 1973 he was drafted in the 12th round (293rd overall) by the San Diego Chargers.
Al Wilson – Montana State, BC Lions, CFL- Mr. Wilson was born and raised in Duncan, British Columbia. He came to the states from 68-72 to play his college ball at Montana State. He was a captain for the Cats during his senior year. He went back to Canada and played 15 years for the BC Lions as an offensive lineman. He is a member of the Canadian Football Hall of Fame, and the BC Sports Hall of Fame, and has had his #52 retired by the BC Lions.
Colt Anderson Butte, Montana, NFL - The Butte High Bulldog walked on at the University of Montana in 2004. In 2006, Colt started all 14 games for the Griz, recorded 92 tackles, and was named All-Big Sky as a safety and on special teams. By the time his Senior campaign rolled around, Colt as a team captain for the Griz. In ’08 he recorded 129 tackles, 6.5 for loss, 1 sack, 3 interceptions, 1 forced fumble, and 2 fumble recoveries. He finished his college career as a Frist Team All-American.
Colt was not selected in the 2009 draft but was signed by Minnesota as an undrafted free agent. Over his 9-year NFL career Colt played for the Vikings, Eagles, Colts, and Bills. As an NFL player he registered 109 tackles, 4 forced fumbles, 1 fumble recovery, and had 1 interception.
Colt is now the Assistant Special Teams coach for the Cincinnati Bengals.

The induction weekend will be June 23rd and 24th in Billings.
The 23rd will include a golf tournament and a welcome reception.
Saturday the 24th will be a full day of activity at the Billings Hotel and Convention Center, highlighted by the Montana Football Hall of Fame Induction Banquet starting at 6 pm.
