Montana Man's Off-grid Home Buried By Hail In Under An Hour

Where were you when the storm hit on Thursday? For many of us who were out on the town, we saw flash flooding on Harrison as water pooled and cars hydroplaned. Uptown at Music on Main, the show was postponed as workers, vendors and music lovers scattered to cars and indoor businesses to avoid the incredibly heavy rain and hail.

For one area man, the storm hit a lot harder. Hank Muntzer is a humble, hardworking man who calls an off-grid house in the mountains of Southwest Montana home. Thursday's storm was catastrophic to Hank.

”In less than an hour, an unimaginable hailstorm buried his home under feet of hail, causing catastrophic damage and destroying nearly everything inside. His home is no longer livable, and he has lost almost everything he owned. He is now faced with the heartbreaking reality of starting over from nothing"

Hank's niece, Megan Brown, describes Hank as "a humble, kindhearted, and hardworking man who has always lived a simple life. He is someone who loves his family, values the life he built, and never asks for anything from anyone. Seeing him go through a loss of this magnitude is truly heartbreaking."

Because Hank's home is off-grid it is ineligible for insurance leaving Hank essentially homeless with all of his possessions destroyed.
