Free Summer Meals For Kids In Butte, Deer Lodge, And Whitehall

Action Inc. has a serious problem with hunger in Southwest Montana, particularly when it affects our youth. Action Inc. exists for simply this kind of problem. For years, they have been addressing the needs of poor and low-income people and address practical issues, one of which is the lack of healthy food for children of low-income families, particularly in the summer months when the schools and their cafeterias are closed.

Because many Southwest Montana children rely on free school lunches as their primary and sometimes only source of nourishment, Action Inc. will again put on the Free Summer Meals Program starting on June 16th. The program will provide free, nutritious meals to all kids and teens 18 years of age and under with no sign up. Just show up between 11am and 1pm and get a meal. The program will run through August 15th with no meals served on July 3rd or July 4th. Here are the locations where the lunches will be distributed.

BUTTE

Grab and go breakfast and lunch meal service, 11am to 1pm, Monday thru Friday;

Clark Park - 1700 Wall Street
Emerson School - 1924 Phillips
Holy Spirit Church - 4201 Continental Drive
JFK Park (Park in the Drives) - Center Dr. and East Dr.
Kennedy School - 1000 N. Emmett Street
Koprivica Park - 900 E. Second Street
Legion Oasis - 3400 Hill Avenue
Sesame Street - Sesame Street and Warren Street
Silver Bow Homes Conference Room - 220 Curtis Street
Silver Bow Village - 910 Evans
West Elementary School - 800 S. Emmett Street
Whittier Park Baseball Field - Ottawa Street and Sherman Street

Onsite breakfast will be served from 8am to 9am, and lunch from 11am to 1pm, Monday thru Friday at East Middle School, 2600 Grand Avenue and Monday thru Thursday at the Butte High School Career Center, 1050 S. Montana Street, during the same hours.
