The Western AA conference portion of the Butte High boys' and girls' basketball seasons get underway Thursday as the Bulldogs will do battle with the Missoula Hellgate Knights.

It's never a dull game when the Dillon Beavers come to town and tonight should bring double the excitement as the Butte High Bulldogs host a girls/boys' doubleheader tonight at the Butte Civic Center.

Cameron Gurnsey's steal and breakaway dunk with 2:00 to play was part of a 9-0 Butte High 4th quarter run that was too much for Missoula Big Sky to weather as the Bulldogs beat the Eagles 87-78 Tuesday night at Ross J. Richardson Gymnasium on the campus of Butte High School.

Senior guard Dougie Peoples had 23 points for Butte Central and junior guard Jack Keeley came off the bench to add 21 as the Butte Central Maroons ran to a 76-47 win over crosstown rival Butte High Tuesday night at the Butte Civic Center.
