When you think of Montana State Football in recent years, you think of the Butte native that lead the Cats to 2 National Championship Games in 4 years.
This Saturday, Butte's "Touchdown" Tommy Mellott will lead the MSU Bobcats into Bobcat Stadium for the final time and, as expected, it is deep in the FCS Playoffs. Very deep. If the Bobcats beat South Dakota. Montana State will return to the National Championship game, a place they have been to before. In fact, had it not been for an injury to Mellott early in their last championship appearance many (including myself) believe the Bobcats would have won the game. But that is not the point. The point is that Mellott has brought the Bobcats back.
Whether you're a kid who wants to learn from Butte High and Montana State legend Tommy Mellott and his teammates from the MSU Bobcats at a day camp, a Bobcat fan who wants to rub shoulders with the players or a business representative who is interested in seeing how the Bobcats can help your organization as a result of the NCAA's NIL (Name, Image and Likeness) program, Tuesday, July 16th is your day.
Colt Anderson is bringing out the big guns for the Dream Big Montana experience and he's keeping things locally. While only a pair of games are on the college sports schedule here in Butte, there is a lot of action happening only a couple hours away from town in either direction, especially if you like playoff football.
