Western C Divisional underway at Maroon Activities Center
Day one of the Western C Divisonal Basketball Tournament is underway at the Maroon Activities Center in Butte and here are some early first round results.
BOYS: West Yellowstone 72, Charlo 40
Logan Kingston was one of three Wolverines in double-digits and the Wolverines used a big size advantage to bully past Charlo 72-40 in the opening round of the boys tournament. The Vikings committed 18 turnovers in the contest and were outrebounded by West Yellowstone 40-35. Joining Kingston in double digits were sharpshooting guard 47 Taylor Hales who had a double-double with 11 points and as many rebounds while Alma Clark added 10 points. Charlo will meet Drummond in loser-out action tomorrow morning at 9:30am while West Yellowstone will meet Harrison in the tournemant semifinals tomorrow afternoon at 3:30.
BOYS: Harrison 53, Drummond 47
Coach Zach Murphy's Harrison Wildcats used a huge third quarter to take command of the game and held on in the 4th to down the Drummond Trojans 53-47 in the second boys game of the tournament. The Wildcats outscored Drummond 22-8 in the third and got 13 points apiece from Campbell Smith and Aaron DeFrance.
GIRLS: TWIN BRIDGES 58, CHARLO 23
Twin Bridges opened the game on a 30-2 run over the first 11 minutes and this one was never in jeopardy as the Falcons put the mercy rule into effect and ran past the Charlo Vikings 58-23. Emma Konen led the Falcons with 14 points while Ayla Janzen, Allie Dale and Kara Dale each had 8 points.
GIRLS: ENNIS 63, SEELEY-SWAN 50
Ennis scored the first 13 points of the game and that proved to be the difference as the Mustangs galloped past Seeley-Swan 63-50 in the opening round. Marissa Snider was simply on fire, exploding for 27 points while teammates Marlysa Legerwood, Mikendra Ledgerwood and Megan Knack each contributed 8. Ennis will meet Twin Bridges in the semifinals tomorrow evening at 6:30 while Seeley-Swan has a date with Charlo in the loser-out game at 12:30pm.
