
Butte-Billings Senior Girls to meet in first round of State AA Basketball Tournament
It's state tournament time and the Butte High Bulldogs girls team is ready to lay it all on the line. The Bulldogs are the second seed out of the Western AA and will open play Thursday morning at 9am at MetraPark Arena in Billings against the Billings Senior Broncs. Butte and Billings Senior did not meet during the regular season. Let's take a look at what the Bulldogs have done and a look at Billings Senior as well.
BUTTE HIGH BULDOGS
The Bulldogs are 12-7 overall with a 10-4 mark in the Western AA. They are led by junior guard Cadence Graham who leads the team in scoring at 19.7 points per game, in steals at 2.5 per game and in assists with 2.7 per game. Saege Grey is the teams leading rebounder with a 6.6 per game average. As a team the Bulldogs are scoring 55.6 points per game while giving up 46.4 points per game.
BILLINGS SENIOR BRONCS
Like the Bulldogs, Billings Senior comes into the quarterfinals with a 12-7 overall mark while sporting an 8-6 mark in the Eastern AA. The Broncs have two players averaging double digits in scoring in Eva Blatchford who averages 14.2 points per game while Bella Ferguson is putting in 10.6. Blatchford is also a force on the boards averaging 9.7 rebounds per game to go with 2 steals per game and is also the team's leading shot blocker with 17 on the season.
The winner of the Butte-Billings Senior contest will play the winner of the Gallatin-Helena High contest that begins at 10:30am. On the other side of the bracket are Billings West and Missoula Hellgate who will tangle at 3:30 as well as Missoula Big Sky and Billings Skyview who meet at 5pm.
