It’s almost time for Butte’s Helping Hand Clothing Drive
Have you felt the chill in the air early in the morning? No doubt, fall is within arm's reach if it's not here already. All it takes, though, is a quick flip of the car's heater and all is warm and toasty within a couple of minutes. For most of us, that is. For many, colder temperatures mean a struggle to find appropriate winter clothing for themselves and their families and that means this is a stressful time.
For several years, we here at Townsquare Media have been proud to be a small part of a big clothing drive that gets bigger and bigger every year. To us, this comes with mixed emotions. Sure, a big turnout means that thousands of our listeners not only heard our message but responded with donations of time and clothing items, but it also means that there remains a strong need for these items and a lot of poverty in Butte, Montana.
This year's Helping Hands clothing drive is in the initial stages and again this year we are asking for our listeners help. Look through your closets, your storage bins and your wardrobes for clean, gently worn clothing that you no longer use. How about your linen closets? We can always use towels and linens that are still in good condition. Of course, winter gear like coats, hats, gloves, mittens and blankets are always in high demand at our clothing drive.
Soon we will have our collection boxes out at several fine businesses here in Butte and Anaconda and we will let you know when you can make your donation, and you can bet that we will be looking for volunteers to get things ready for the distribution once we get closer to the date.
Thank you in advance for making the 2024 Helping Hands Clothing Drive our most successful one to date!
