Maybe this is just a strange coincidence, but maybe there are no such things as coincidences.  23 years after the worst terror attack in American history, a day that brings back memories of panic, dread and death, the Dishability Food Truck will return to service after suffering their own version of a terrorist attack.  Early on Labor Day, spineless vandals worked overtime during the early morning hours to cut through iron bars and steal the generator used to power the food truck.  And in stealing their power source, they took away a prime means of funding for some of Butte and Southwest Montana's most vulnerable and special people.

The Dishability Food Truck is run by the Silver Bow Developmental Disablities Council who provide guidance, friendship, encouragement, and yes, employment opportunities for people with disabilities in Southwest Montana.  Like the Food Truck.  In fact, the food truck feeds so many different programs for those with disabilities that it would be a story in itself.  And it will be.  But first we are going to talk about the travel situation.  It's not very good.  Their primary means of getting around is an old van with bench seats.  Not first class by any means.  One of their big goals is to get a comfortable passenger van of some sort.  Not only for comfort's sake but for safety.  The money the food truck generated is going towards a newer vehicle.  It still is but their efforts have been severely hampered by this senseless theft.  But like America on 9/11, these kids too, shall rise.

The food truck, due to the incredible generosity of local donors have managed to put operations in order enough to temporarily open for lunch on Wednesday, September 11th at the Butte Plaza Mall.  They will be cooking up their famous "smashburgers" and they will be selling them until they are gone.

The generator that they will be using is a loaner and funds are still needed to replace the stolen unit.  Donations are being graciously accepted and here's the info:
