With the first full weekend of high school winter sports and activities in the books, both Butte High and Butte Central will be back in full swing with a full calendar of boys and girls sports and activities.

Today, Monday December 12, the Butte High Frosh II boys team will be at home against the Sheridan Panthers at 4:30 while the girls sophomore team will follow at 6pm.  Tomorrow it will be Bulldog boys and girls wresters in action with the boys and girls at Belgrade.  The boys JV will grapple at 4:30 followed by both the boys and girls varsity programs taking on the Panthers at 6pm.  As we look at the wrestling schedule for the rest of the week we will find the boys varsity sending wrestlers to Gillette, Wyoming Thursday thru Saturday while others in the boys varsity program as well as the full girls squad will compete Friday and Saturday in Great Falls at the CMR Holiday Classic, as will the Butte Central varsity.  The Butte and Butte Central boys JV wrestlers will compete at the Great Falls JV invite on Saturday.

The Butte High Swim Team will compete this Saturday at the Missoula City Meet starting at 11am while the Maroons Speech and Debate team will head to the Bitterroot Valley for the Stevensville Invite starting at 8am.

Butte Central's boys basketball team will make their Maroon Activities Center debut this Thursday as they host the East Helena Vigilantes with the freshmen playing at 4:15, the JV at 5:45 and the varsity at 7:15.  The girls will follow the same schedule on the road at East Helena.  Thursday will also see the Butte High boys and girls basketball teams in action against the Belgrade Panthers.  The boys will be on the road with the freshmen and sophomores tipping off at 4pm, the JV at 5:30 and the varsity at 7pm.  The girls will follow the same schedule on the campus of Butte High School.  Saturday will see a key early conference trip to Dillon for the entire Butte Central basketball program.  Freshmen girls and the JV boys will tip off at 1, while 2:30 will see the girls JV as well as the freshmen boys games.  In the varsity doubleheader, the Maroons and Beavers girls teams get underway at 4pm with the boys tilt scheduled for 5:30.
