We have come to the final 2 weekends of Spring Sports as Divisional qualifying tournaments have started for some activities and even a State Tournament starting for baseball. Here is a look at what Butte High and Butte Central will be doing this week.

After a soggy weekend, Butte High and Butte Central look to get back on track for the last few remaining dates of the spring sports season. This week's schedule features a makeup date for City Championship Baseball and Senior Parent's Night for a couple of other local teams. For the 18th time in his 20 seasons at the helm, Brodie Kelly is leading his Butte Central Maroons boys basketball team into the Montana Class A State Tournament and this year's edition will get underway at 9am as they open play against the Dawson Country Red Devils in the Butte Civic Center.

Butte Central Maroons stun the top-ranked Hamilton Broncs, proving their potential in the Southwestern A boys basketball conference.

The Butte Central Maroons activities schedule for the week gets underway Tuesday and after recent performances, the Maroons presumably can't wait to get back on the hardwood. Wrestling and Speech & Debate are also in action.

As far as nonconference basketball games go, this is going to be a pretty big night. Sure, it's nonconference, but when you put Butte Central and Anaconda together, as they say, you can throw out the records.

If you are reading the stat sheet from last Saturday's game against the Polson Pirates, you'll notice that over the final two minutes, a little-used reserve guard for the Pirates came into the game and got a pair of steals along with the game's final two points. You may find this a bit odd. And odd it was. It was also one of the most incredible displays of sportsmanship that you will find on Montana's high school hardwood. Or anywhere, really.
