Local Veteran’s Food Pantry Set to Host Fundraiser
It's a fact, for decades our nation's veterans have gone the extra mile to fight for our freedom. Another truth? For decades, concerned and caring members of the community have come together to fight for the needs of our veterans. With supporters of services such as the Southwest Montana Veterans Pantry & Services Division, the fight continues and in a very positive way! There has always been a growing need to show support for our veterans by providing meals and other essentials across the United States and right here in Montana. (continued...)
For the SW Montana Veterans Food Pantry & Services Division, fundraisers have been an important aspect of making sure veterans in need, receive food and other accommodations. Their next event aimed to raise money and bring the community together is a Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser on Saturday, February 18th at the Deer Lodge Elks Lodge (230 Main Street, Deer Lodge). From 6 until 8 pm, enjoy spaghetti with all the fixings to include salad and garlic bread. No host drinks will be available through the Elks Lodge bar. The cost to feast is $10 for those 13 and older and $5 for children 6 to 12 years of age. Cost is only $30 for the whole family. (more about the pantry below)
As advocated through the Montana Food Bank Network, it is estimated that the "pantry" serves over 300 veterans living in Powell County, Anaconda-Deer Lodge County and Granite County. Members, volunteers and supporters of the program have also supplied more than just food to local veterans; they've provided them with a sense of belonging.
