Montana Tech Track Dominating After Day 1 Of Conference Championships
Day one of the Frontier Conference Track and Field Championships wrapped up yesterday with both Montana Tech teams in first place. The Montana Tech women’s team has a large lead heading into day two of the competition with a total of 108 points. Carroll is in 2nd with 55.5, Providence 48.5, Rocky 38, and Western 18.
The Oredigger men also broke the 100-point total on day one with 108.33. Carroll is 2nd with 80.33, Rocky 38.33, Providence 30, and Western 12.
The lady Diggs rolled through day 1 of the Championships, winning 5 of the 8 events.
In the 100 hurdles, Tech went 1-2-3. Olleca Severson winning with a time of 15.59, Abby Clark 2nd, and Naiya Beaudin 3rd.
Tech also swept the Triple Jump. Naiya Beaudin winning with a mark of 11.18m, Anika Ploeger 2nd, Hailee Stiles 3rd.
In the 10,000-meter Tech went 1-2, with Hailey Nielson winning in 39:27.19, Carlin Manning 2nd with a time of 39:45;36.
The 4 x 100 team of Mollee Conlan, Emily Ratz, HAdyn Vermillion, and Natylia Jacobson won the event with a time of 50.17.
Abby Clark won the high jump with a mark of 1.65m.
On the men’s side, the Diggs have 4 wins in 9 events after day one.
In the 10,000m the Orediggers went 1-2. Edwin Kipainoi gets the win in a time of 32:23.89, Justin Morgan 2nd at 32:27.84
Montana Tech’s Payton Cates won the High Jump with a mark of 1.9m, Bauer Seewald of Tech taking 2nd.
Cade VanVleet wins the Hammer Throw for the Orediggers with a mark of 46.55m.
The Oredigger 4 x 100 relay team of Tyler Walter, Caden Caywood, Dom Maricelli and Drake Schlachter get the win, with a time of 43.65.
Pole vault, which was originally scheduled for Thursday afternoon, was postponed until today because of weather conditions.
