Butte’s Haunted History: The Myrna Hotel and Cabbage Patch

We were recently talking about Butte's infamous Dumas Brothel and it's reputation for being one of the most haunted places in Butte.  Well, it may have a bit of competition from just down the street, just as it did oh so many years ago.

The Myrna Hotel, on Arizona, just up from the Mercury Street intersection may be able to very well match the Dumas in terms of a sordid history and present-day paranormal energy.  It too once served as a brothel, just on the edge of the red light district and directly adjacent to what was once Butte's Cabbage Patch.  It more or less shares an alley.

In a nutshell, the Cabbage Patch was a slum.  Ramshackle buildings.  Sewage running down the filthy dirt alleyways.  And violence.  A lot of violence.  The Cabbage Patch, in addition to being the home of Butte's poorest, was also the perfect place for criminals and people who did not want to be found.  It was said that the Butte Police would not even venture into the Patch and as such, crime was rampant.

The area to the rear of the Myrna is what remains of the actual Cabbage Patch complete with buildings and even furnishings.  And according to legend, many, many ghosts.
