Oredigger Cross Country teams qualify for Nationals
Montana Tech Cross Country is headed to the National Championships. The men's and women's teams will be heading to Vancouver, British Columbia for November 17th's meet. The following is from the Digger Athletic Department:
The women's team, who finished at No. 22 in the final Top 25 poll, received one of 11 at-large berths in the 2023 Championship. The Orediggers are coming off a second-place finish at the Frontier Conference Championships, where they came up nine points shy of Carroll for the top spot. The Diggs are paced by Frontier Conference individual champion Carlin Manning who finished with 6K course in a time of 22 minutes, 56 seconds. Carlin and were both named All-Conference.
The Oredigger women will make their second appearance at the race with the last coming in 2021.
The men's field will be made up of 36 teams and 85 individuals and will take place at Fort Vancouver as well, with a start time of 12:30 p.m. MT. The Montana Tech men's team finished second at the Frontier Championships last week, just three points behind the Saints of Carroll College. Edwin Kipainoi and Justin Morgan finished second and third respectively for the Diggs, and Benjamin Zerr finished eighth, earning all three Orediggers All-Conference honors.
The 19th-ranked Orediggers received one of the 12 at-large berths to the Championship field. This will be the first trip to the National Championships for Montana Tech.
The Frontier Conference will be represented by Montana Tech, Carroll College and Rocky Mountain College in both the women's and men's field.
