If there is a knock at your door next Wednesday evening and you find trick-or-treaters, your first thought may be that these kids are a couple of days early.  However, if the trick-or-treaters in question are members of the Montana Tech Men's Basketball Team and stand at or over 6'7, you may be thinking, "gee, kids are really tall these days."
Don't worry, you are not going crazy.  The Montana Tech SAAC (Student Athlete Advisory Committee) has set Wednesday, October 29th as the date of their "Trick or Treat For Cans" event which will raise food and funds for the Butte Emergency Food Bank.

What is the Montana Tech Student Athlete Advisory Committee? The Montana Tech Student-Athlete Advisory Committee serves as a liaison between the student body, faculty, athletic department and student-athletes and is made up of athletes from all of Montana Tech's varsity and club sports. SAAC seeks to enhance the student-athlete experience by providing opportunities while fostering a positive student-athlete image as representatives of the university, the Frontier Conference, and the NAIA.

Trick or Treat For Cans will sent Oredigger student athletes out to Butte neighborhoods going door-to-door around Butte collecting canned food and other non-perishable items for the Butte Emergency Food Bank. The drive will begin at 4 p.m. and continue throughout the evening. If you are a member of the community and are interested in donating to the drive and SAAC members don't come knocking, Montana Tech Athletics will be collecting items at the HPER Complex front desk throughout the Fall 2025 semester.
