The Montana Tech Men's Basketball Team continues to make waves in the NAIA Men's Top 25 Coaches' Poll. Here is a look at this week's rankings which were released earlier today.
Following a third-consecutive blowout victory, Montana Tech's football team broke into the top 10 of the latest NAIA top 25 ratings. The Orediggers checked in 10th in the latest poll, announced Monday by the NAIA's national office. It's Montana Tech's highest spot in the ratings since the Diggers were No. 10 in the September 23 iteration of the poll.
Montana Tech is facing criticism for the wide margin of victory that looks like something you'd find on a video game. People are saying that the Orediggers ran up the score. While the final result would certainly indicate that, it is just not the case. Montana Tech Head Coach Kyle Samson pulled the first string after the first quarter with the game firmly in hand. Samson went as deep into his roster as any head coach has ever gone using the sixth string by the time the dust was settling. Kids who don't get a lot, if any, time on the playing field were getting big minutes. Even though the game was out of hand, these players are still fighting for position on the depth charts and you will not find a coach in America who will tell his players to give anything less than their all.
The NAIA announced the outdoor track and field multi-event qualifiers for the 2024 NAIA Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Championship in Marion, Ind. The top 16 marks in the heptathlon qualify to compete at the national championship. With the second-highest score in the NAIA this season, Montana Tech’s Abby Clark has made the cut to compete at the National Championships.
The Montana Tech Orediggers will open their 2024 conference season with a bang as the men and women host the Rocky Mountain Battlin' Bears Saturday afternoon at Kelvin Sampson Court.
The Victory Sports Network has released it’s 2023 NAIA Football All-American Team and Individual Awards for the season. Two Orediggers have made the cut, Redshirt Sophomore Andrew Almos as an Honorable Mention Punter, as well as Junior Wyatt Alexander, who was named Third Team All-American at receiver.
The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced the 2023 NAIA All-America Teams today. Olivia Muir was named a Third Team All-American and Maureen Jessop was selected Honorable Mention.
It's going to be a busy Saturday on campus. In addition to Saturday's home first-round playoff football game, the Montana Tech Orediggers will also be hosting a first-round playoff volleyball game.
