Tyler Avery of the Montana Tech golf team and Carlin Manning of the women's Cross-Country team have taken home honors from the Frontier Conference.  The following are releases from the Montana Tech Athletic Department:

Montana Tech's Tyler Avery has won the Erck Hotels Frontier Conference Golfer of the Week Award.   Avery a freshman from Kalispell took home the win at the Yellowjacket Fall Invite in Billings last week. Shooting a final round 67 (-5) to finish the tournament at 209. (-7), Tyler was able to jump to the top of the leaderboard and stay there.

Entering the final round Tyler was sitting at -2, in a tie for second place. Out of the 51 golfers on the course for the final round, only five shot under par, and no one touched Tyler.

He finished the day with one bogie, four birdies, and an eagle on the 550-yard, par 5, 2nd hole.  That tournament marks the end of the Orediggers fall schedule, they will get back on the courses when snow melts. Until then it's time to hit the simulators.

Montana Tech's Carlin Manning has been named the Erck Hotels female cross-country athlete of the week.  Manning continued her strong season with a 5th-place finish at the NAIA Great Lakes Challenge in Grand Rapids, Mich. In a field of 189 individual runners, representing 22 different NAIA teams, Carlin crossed the finish line of the 5k event at 18:36.50. She was the fastest Frontier Conference runner.

Carlin has been fantastic this season, especially on the 'big stage'. Earlier this season the Orediggers competed at the Masters Invite and Carlin finished 12th in a field of 194.
Carlin, a junior from Kalispell, and the rest of the Oredigger cross country team will prepare for their next event, the Frontier Conference Championships held in Great Falls on November 3rd.
