The Wall That Heals opens this week at Father Sheehan Park
The Wall That Heals, a mobile Vietnam Veterans Memorial replica and education center will open Wednesday at Father Sheehan Park after an Escort Route Tuesday afternoon honoring all of our veterans, but particularly local Vietnam Veterans, makes its way through town. The exhibit is free and will run through Sunday, open 24 hours a day and is a program of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund. Let's take a look at the daily schedule:
TUESDAY, AUGUST 27th
9AM: Escort Registration at Copper Canyon Harley Davidson, 34 Olympic Way.
12:15PM: Safety Brief at Copper Canyon Harley.
1PM: Kickstands up for Escort.
2PM: Tour of education center for Escort participants.
ESCORT ROUTE: Start at Copper Canyon Harley and go north on Continental which will become Shields and then Park Street (westbound). Turn left on Montana. Turn left on Front. Front turns into Harrison Avenue. Turn left on Amherst, right on Howard and on to Holiday Park Drive and then into Father Sheehan Park.
WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 28th
8AM: The Wall will start to be erected and open to the public to watch.
6PM: Meeting/training at Father Sheehan Park for all volunteers.
9PM: Live TAPS will be played by a local bugler.
THURSDAY, AUGUST 29TH
10AM: Opening Ceremony at Father Sheehan Park.
9PM: Live TAPS will be played by a local bugler.
FRIDAY, AUGUST 30TH
9PM: Live TAPS will be played by a local bugler.
SATURDAY, AUGUST 31ST
9AM: Private tour for all sponsors (the Wall will still be open)
9PM: Live TAPS will be played by a local bugler.
SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 1ST
1PM: Closing Ceremony (please come meet the co-chairs)
2PM: Live TAPS played by a local bugler will end the exhibit.
