Butte’s New Diaper Bank Steps Up For Local Families
A new community effort in Butte is aiming to meet a basic but often overlooked need for local families: diapers for our little ones.
According to organizers, one in two families across Southwest Montana struggle to afford enough diapers and necessary suppliles to keep their infants and toddlers clean, dry and healthy. In response, the Butte-Silver Bow Health Department has partnered with Bulldog Outfitters to launch a community Diaper Bank designed to ease that burden and help young, local families in need.
The mission of the Diaper Bank is straightforward--to support families by providing diapers and essential hygiene items while reducing financial stress and promoting overall health. Organizers say the program is rooted in dignity and accessibility, with no questions asked for those in need.
Organizers emphasize that the effort is about making sure every child stays clean, healthy and comfortable while helping to strengthen community connections by encouraging neighbors to support one another.
Community members who want to help can contribute a range of essential items. Donations of unused diapers of all sizes, preferably in their original packaging, are especially needed. The Diaper Bank also accepts unopened diaper wipes, rash creams, women's menstrual products and postpartum care items.
Donations can be dropped off at the Butte-Silver Bow Health Department, located at 25 Front Street. Those needing to coordinate a drop-off time can call (406) 497-5074 or email fluebeck@bsb.mt.gov.
As the program gets underway, organizers hope the community will rally around the effort, helping ensure no family has to choose between basic hygiene and other necessities.
