The Montana Folk Festival is one of the biggest events in Montana this summer and certainly a great reason to head to Butte for a wonderful weekend.  While there is no doubt the festival itself offers more than enough to keep you and your family busy, there are a few iconic Mining City Establishments that you just have to see before you head back home.

The longest continuously-running Chinese restaurant in America, the Pekin is a Butte icon and one of the best places for an authentic Chinese meal in a restaurant like no other.  The Pekin sits right in the heard of Butte's old Chinatown and it's history is as colorful as the food is delicious.  OUR FAVORITE - The Special "M".  Bring a friend and enjoy a full meal that includes chicken chow mein, pork fried rice, sweet and sour chicken and jumbo shrimp along with their famous BBQ pork with hot mustard.

PORK CHOP JOHN'S

A true Butte tradition, there is nothing like a John's Original Pork Chop Sandwich.  Uptown on Mercury, close to the location where the first sandwiches were served from a cart close to a century ago, you can also order pork nuggets, burgers as well as fish and chicken sandwiches.  OUR FAVORITE - Pork chop, loaded deluxe with ham, egg and cheese.  And extra napkins.

While new to the Butte scene when compared to the Pekin and Pork Chop John's, 5518 on Main and it's sister store, Dig City Supply on Park, have endeared themselves to the Butte and Southwest Montana community not only through their generous support of, well, just about anything, but their incredible gear.  Their tees display everything from Jon and Cassie Wick's incredible designs but their "Butte Icon" line of clothing and tees sporting logos of Butte schools long since closed.  OUR FAVORITE - Check out their incredible selection of stickers.

BUTTE STUFF

On Park Street, Butte Stuff is an incredible store where you will find a ton of Butte history, pictures and stories on everything from tees and souvenirs to books, photos and a surprise on every rack.  For a true Butte souvenir, this is your place.  OUR FAVORITE - Butte Stuff has a variety of Butte sayings and slogans on interior signs that would look perfect in any den or living room.
