As far as nonconference basketball games go, this is going to be a pretty big night.  Sure, it's nonconference, but when you put Butte Central and Anaconda together, as they say, you can throw out the records. The Anaconda Copperheads boys and girls' basketball teams will host Butte Central tonight in Anaconda. On the boys' side, each team comes into the contest with a single loss apiece, each team losing to a team in a higher classification.  The Class B Copperheads have not lost a game since a 51-43 defeat at the hands of the Class A Corvallis Blue Devils at the start of the season and their run has included some impressive wins over the likes of Drummond, Thompson Falls and Florence/Carlton.  Butte Central, on the other hand, rolled to a 6-0 start before dropping their last game to the Class AA Butte High Bulldogs just before the holiday break, snapping a 3-game City-Championship winning streak.

On the girls' side of things, the teams enter tonight's contest going in different directions.  Butte Central is winless so far on the season but the young Maroons have been improving steadily, while Anaconda is red-hot and looking to extend their winning streak.  One of the top teams in Class B, Anaconda has posted impressive wins over the likes of Charlo, Drummond, Corvallis and Florence/Carlton to start the season while BC has suffered blowout losses to Fergus, Ronan, Butte and Browning but played very competitively in losses to Park, Polson and East Helena.

The girls' tipoff at 6pm tonight in the Snake Pit in Anaconda with the boys to follow at approximately 7:30.
