
Southwest Montana High School Basketball Classic set for March 16th
Fans of Southwest Montana high school basketball are in for a treat on March 16th as the venue and times have been set for the 17th Southwest Montana High School Basketball Classic which will take place at Valley Bank Arena inside the HPER Complex on the campus of Montana Tech. The girls will tip off at 5:30pm followed by the boys at 7pm.
The Southwest Montana High School Basketball Classic takes the top players from schools from all classes across our area and divides them into the "Big Sky" and "Treasure State" teams. Participating schools are Anaconda, Beaverhead County, Butte Central, Butte High, Drummond, Ennis, Granite, Harrison, Jefferson, Lima, Powell County, Sheridan, Twin Bridges, West Yellowstone, and Whitehall. In addition to the boys and girls games, participants will also be given the opportunity to compete in a three-point shootout..
Head Coaches for both the Big Sky and Treasure State teams are currently being selected and the committee is accepting nominations. If you would like to nominate a coach, please send your nomination to "Southwest Montana All-Star Classic c/o Butte Chamber of Commerce, 1000 George St., Butte, MT 59701."
"The Butte Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors is very excited to be the official host and sponsor of the 17th Southwestern Montana High Basketball Classic," said Butte Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Stephanie Sorini. "This event is a reality due to the hard work and commitment of the individuals of the Chamber of Commerce Hospitality Committee. It is an honor and privilege for the Chamber to provide a venue for our student athletes to showcase their talents. The Chamber feels that the basketball players from Southwestern Montana are second to none and should be given the same opportunity as other players have throughout Montana. We encourage all parents and fans to mark your calendars and be in Butte on March 16th to support our youth."
