Frontier Days in Whitehall starts Thursday
From pig wrestling to a community barbecue to lots of live music including a performance by one of Southwest Montana's best live bands, Frontier Days in Whitehall promises a heaping helping of family fun starting this Thursday, June 27th and running through Sunday the 30th with the bulk of the activities taking place on Friday and Saturday.
THURSDAY
Events will get underway Thursday evening with the Whitehall Chamber of Commerce's free BBQ at the GSM Pavillion at Legion Park which gets underway at 6pm and is followed at 7pm by the Pig Wrestling Team calcutta sale.
FRIDAY
Things will kick into high gear Friday morning at 9am as the Jefferson Valley Fine Arts Exhibit opens at Bordens, which will be open until 5pm. At 10am, the many vendors open shop at Legion Park and the Main Street Green and the $1 Bag book sale takes place at the Whitehall Community Library. The book sale wraps up at noon and the vendors will be operating until 5pm. From 11am until 2pm there will be a Rocky Mountain Bank Community BBQ at Rocky Mountain Bank and there will be Jefferson Valley Museum historic tours by bus at 1:30pm, 3:30pm and 5:30pm. The fun stuff will really get going at 6pm with pig wrestling at the Whitehall Rodeo Grounds and at 7:30 the day will wrap up with live music with Greenz Guitars at the Main Street Green.
SATURDAY
Get up early for the Fireman's Breakfast at the Volunteer Fire Hall which will run from 6:30am until 10:30am and the vendors will open early at 8am and will expand to include the Western Legacy Center as a sales site. Vendors again on Saturday will be open until 5pm. At 9am the 17th Annual Mark Jordan Horseshoe Tournament gets underway as does the Bill Baycroft Memorial Rod Run at Legion Park. Returning Saturday, the Jefferson Valley Fine Arts Exhibit from 9 to 5 and th $1 bag book sale from 10am to noon. At 11am is the Frontier Days Parade with grand marshal Teri Casagrande and live music will also fire up at the fine arts exhibit at Bordens. Kids activities get underway at 1pm with the gem dig at the Western Legacy Center until 4pm, and kids Art in the Park and kids rodeo activities at the Main Street Green running until 3. From 1 to 4 is the kids tractor pull on Legion Street and at 2pm the final Jefferson Valley Museum historical tour by bus. From 2 to 3:30 is the talent show and magician at Main Street Green, from 3:30 until 6 is the Frontier Days World Record competition, at 6pm is the Town of Whitehall Ranch Rodeo at the Whitehall Rodeo Grounds and things will wrap up with a street dance with King Friday starting at 9pm.
SUNDAY
Sunday is the wrap up day with a community cleanup effort getting underway at 9am at Ledger's office and at 11am is Cowboy Church on Main Street with Expedition Church.
