Butte Sports Hall of Fame Public Forum set for Monday
If you know of a deserving local athlete whose accomplishments are deserving of Hall of Fame recognition, Monday is your chance to get their story heard. The Butte Sports Hall of Fame will hold a public forum this Monday at the McQueen Club on Hecla, just off of Continental Drive.
The forum will begin at 6pm and give the public the chance to speak on behalf of nominees for the Butte Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2026. The Class of 2026 will be announced in February and the induction ceremonies are set for July 24th and 25th at the Butte Civic Center.
Each speaker at the forum is asked to limit his or her talk to 3 minutes per candidate. The Hall of Fame will also be accepting new nominations but will be asking for documentation to support all claims. Any candidate who was nominated in the past need not reapply for selection as they are still nominees.
The Butte Sports Hall of Fame selection committee has many of Butte's best. The are:
- Jim Street
- Jason Alexander
- Dave Dunmire
- Michele Shea
- Gina Evans
- Cathy Tutty
- Ray Jay Johnson
- Matt Vincent
- Krystin Mengon Lee
- Jaison Carriger
- Meg Murphy
- Scott Mansanti
Candidates nominated in the veteran and contributor categories will be voted on by Butte Sports Hall of Fame members. Ballots, which were sent to members last week are due by February 9th. If you are a HOFer and did not receive a ballot, please contact Butte Sports Hall of Fame Executive Director Bill Foley at (406) 491-3022 or email foles74@gmail.com.
