Mother Nature Shuts Down Additional Butte Sports
It would appear that Mother Nature is working on a perfect game.
Butte Central Baseball was scheduled to host Lone Peak at Three Legends Stadium this afternoon, and due to field conditions that game has been postponed.
Maroon Athletic Director Chad Petersen said “With the additional snow we received earlier this week, the fields won’t be quite ready by this afternoon.” He goes on to say that once a rescheduled date is decided, he will pass it along.
That unfortunately is not all. Butte High Softball was scheduled to go to Great Falls for the Crossover tournament. Every team in the AA was scheduled to attend, each program getting two games against two different non-conference opponents. I checked in with Butte High Athletic Director, Chuck Merrifield and he confirmed it would not be made up, due to the fact that we are “running out of dates”.
As of Thursday afternoon, the Dahlberg Track meet was still a GO for Friday here in Butte. A decision on the Optomist Track meet in Great Falls will be made tomorrow afternoon.
Butte High Baseball is scheduled to be on the road Friday in Columbus to take on Sidney for a varsity doubleheader (1pm & 3pm)
Butte High Tennis is still scheduled to be in Kalispell to take on Glacier and Flathead, with Missoula Big Sky.
Our forecast isn’t pretty.
Friday- an inch of snow possible. High temperatures around 38 for the Butte area.
Saturday- Partly Sunny highs around 43.
Here’s hoping that someone can break up Mother Natures bid for perfect game, and we can get some activities in.
