This Tuesday evening at McGruff Manning Memorial Park, families, first responders, community organizations and more will again come together as Butte-Silver Bow Crimestoppers hosts our community's National Night Out event.  This year's celebration will offer many of the fun events and games that attendees have enjoyed in years past but also a few new surprises are planned for guests this year.

This year's event will get underway at 6pm with a free community barbecue and many guest speakers lined up.  What makes National Night Out a special event, particularly for youngsters, is that our community's emergency first responders will be very well represented and available for questions and even pictures with their young admirers.  It also gives our youth an opportunity to meet law enforcement officials in a social setting which fosters good relationships particularly with some children who may have been brought up with a negative view of authorities.

Butte Cares is an organization promoting a healthy, drug-free community with a particular focus on our youngest citizens. Members of that fine organization will again be on hand this year along with some outstanding members of the Butte High School Key Club.  Together they will be hosting a table full of creative and fun activities for the younger children in attendance.

McGruff Manning Park is just south of the Berkeley Pit Viewing Stand and north of the skate park on Second Street.  For details on Butte's National Night Out event or any other information, please call (406) 782-7336 or send an email to bsbcrime@gmail.com.
