With Valentine's Day falling on a Friday this year, restaurants are going to be buzzing in Butte, and romance will be in the air.  Looking for a great place for a romantic dinner?  Here are some of Southwest Montana's best choices.

For generations, Lydia's has been a Butte staple.  With an elegant, stained-glass decor, Lydia's has been described as retro, but the food is timeless even if their chicken and spaghetti are reminiscent of old Meaderville.  OUR CHOICE:  The porterhouse steak and an extra serving of white ravs.  You can't go wrong.

CASAGRANDA'S STEAKHOUSE, 801 S. UTAH

Casagranda's menu is contemporary, but the decor is definitely retro as the restaurant occupies the former Bertoglio Warehouse and proudly displays old receipts, photos and memoirs as part of their charming interior.  Oh, yeah, and the food is fantastic as well.  OUR CHOICE:  Their steaks are top of the line, but I am going to go with their Chicken Marsala served with the best twice-baked potato in town.

THE HITCHIN' POST IN MELROSE

Sure, it's a quick drive down to Melrose but believe me, it's worth it.  Their locally sourced beef at The Hitchin Post makes for some of the best steaks in Montana and their made-from-scratch side dishes, like the bed of mashed potatoes under the pictured pork shank dinner, make for a great romantic dinner.  OUR CHOICE:  You can't beat their prime rib.  Some of the best I've ever had.

THE DERBY, 2016 HARRISON

The Derby is one of Butte's favorites because of their incredible steaks and their decor that is reminiscent of a good day at the racetrack.  Their steaks are seasoned to perfection, and their prices are reasonable as well.  OUR CHOICE:  The filet mignon.  No question.

RIB AND CHOP HOUSE, 4655 HARRISON

The Rib and Chop House is a great place for not just ribs and chops but fantastic steaks and seafood, as well.  OUR CHOICE:  You cannot go wrong with their prime rib, but make sure you choose their garlic mashed potatoes as a side whatever you get.

METALS SPORTS BAR AND GRILL, PARK AND MAIN

Metals Sports Bar and Grill has one of the most unique dining areas you'll find anywhere and some of the best food, to boot.  Chef T's creations can be as unique as the actual bank vault that is part of their layout but you can never go wrong with their chicken tetrazzini or their fish and chips.  OUR CHOICE:  Surf and turf but make sure you get a sampler platter as an appetizer.
